How About Some Peach Cranberry Rib Candy for Thanksgiving?

Craig Sharry | October 23, 2015

October is almost over, and November means Thanksgiving! It’s time to order some Texas Pepper Jelly products to help you with your Thanksgiving dinner – the preparation of it and the eating of it, both.

Thanksgiving means cranberries, and Texas Pepper Jelly has its delicious Peach Cranberry Rib Candy for sale. This is a seasonal product, so if you want some, you’d better order soon.

I like to brush some of this over my turkey before I place it in the bag and bake it. A few cranberries inside the turkey’s cavity and some Peach Cranberry Rib Candy brushed all over the the outside of the turkey and you’ll have a turkey so delicious, people will still be talking about it in March!

Texas Pepper Jelly’s Peach Cranberry Rib Candy

As with most of Craig Sharry’s Texas Pepper Jelly products, Peach Cranberry Rib Candy is perfect not only in the preparation of your food but also for the dipping of your food. Be sure there’s a dish of Rib Candy on the table so people can partake of it freely as they’re eating.

You’d probably better plan for several bowls of Rib Candy on your table; it’s good for raw vegetables, dinner rolls and any other kind of bread, for pouring over dressing and turkey, and for using on mashed potatoes in place of gravy.

Rib Candy – all of the flavors! – is a delicious and nutritious addition to any and every meal, no matter what’s on the table with it, and whether you’re using it with a big company dinner or just a snack.

Oh, heck, why not save yourself some time and trouble and just order a six pack? Your family and friends will want that much anyway. And, as with all of Texas Pepper Jelly’s cases and gift packs, YOU get to choose your flavors.

Save yourselves some time – order a case!

Texas Style Peach Habanero Pie

Oh, autumn, you are so definitely pie season! Last week it was spicy apple pie; this week it’s peach habanero pie.

Even the pie bird loves peach habanero pie!

Even the pie bird loves peach habanero pie!

I made this pie really, really late at night so I could get a picture of the whole pie. If I make a pie when my family is awake, they always get to it before I can take a picture. Remember last week’s pie? Yeah, that.

Here’s this week’s pie – it’s Texas Pepper Jelly’s Peach Habanero Pie, and it’s absolutely delicious. In fact, I’ve discovered that many fruit pies are greatly improved by adding some Texas Pepper Jelly to the mix.

Ingredients:

Six peaches (or 3 cans sliced peaches)
1/2 cup Peach Habanero Pepper Jelly

Peach Habanero Pepper Jelly gives a peach pie a real kick!

Peach Habanero Pepper Jelly gives a peach pie a real kick!

1/2 cup corn starch
1 cup sugar (I use Splenda)
Dash salt
Butter
Pie crust

What to do:

Preheat your oven to 425. Put the bottom crust in the pie pan.

In a large mixing bowl, put everything except the butter. Mix thoroughly.

Dump the mixing bowl contents into the pie pan. Dot with butter. Put the top crust on top of the mixture. Poke a few holes in the top crust; I like to use a pie bird to ventilate the pie filling so it doesn’t overflow the edges.

Bake at 425 degrees for 25 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350 and bake for another 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and let the pie set up. Peach pies are almost always really juicy when they’re fresh out of the oven and they need about a half hour to firm up.

Since it’s 5:20 a.m. as I write, this pie will have a few hours to get right before my family wakes up. In other words, it’ll be JUUUUUUST RIGHT. Yup.

Remember, a little dash of Texas Pepper Jelly turns almost any fruit pie into a gourmet treat.

Autumn Means Spicy Texas Apple Pie

Granny Smith apples are great for pie!

Granny Smith apples are great for pie!

It’s autumn, and autumn brings many things. One of autumn’s best gifts are apples! There are so many things to do with apples, and spicy Texas apple pie is one of those.

I always use Granny Smith apples for pie, but if there are a few other kinds of apples in the bowl, I’ll use one or two of those, too. One of the problems is keeping back enough apples to make a pie – my family falls upon them like piranha and the bowl is emptied before I’ve thrown away the bag they came in!

Here is Texas Pepper Jelly’s idea of a great pie.

I tried to get a picture of the whole pie, but it smelled great and my family got to it first.

I tried to get a picture of the whole pie, but it smelled great and my family got to it first.

Ingredients:

8 apples, sliced thinly – any kind, but I like to use Granny Smith apples
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
dash salt
1/4 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup Apple Habanero pepper jelly
six teaspoons butter, separated into individual pats
pie crust

What to do:

Pre-heat your oven to 425 degrees.

In a large bowl, put all of the ingredients except the butter and pie crust. Mix thoroughly.

Put the bottom crust in a pie tin, and cover with the ingredients from the bowl.

On top of the apple mixture, put the butter pats. Dot them all over the apples. Cover with the top crust, and crimp the edges tightly.

With a toothpick, poke holes in the pie crust. I like to draw a pine tree, but you do what you want. Let your creative side show. Baking is an art, remember.

Put the pie into the oven and set your timer for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees and set your timer again, this time for 30 minutes.

After thirty minutes, check the apples for done-ness every five minutes or so. The apples should be soft before you remove the pie from the oven.

When the pie is done, remove and set on top of your stove. Your house already smells great, but once you remove the pie form the oven, your house will smell absolutely wonderful.

After your pie has sat on top of your stove for a few minutes, it will look like this:

This is what your Spicy Texas Apple Pie will look like after it's been out of the oven for about a half hour.

There is no apple pie half as good as Spicy Texas Apple Pie.

Craig's BBQ Sauce for every kind of meat you might put on your grill!

Craig’s BBQ Sauce for every kind of meat you might put on your grill!

October is here – it’s autumn at last! – but don’t think for one moment that autumn means the end of barbecue season. Barbecue season is year-long! It’s not even the end of outdoor cookout season yet!

The temperature here was in the high eighties, in fact. People are still loving to cook and eat outdoors in October!

While it’s true that every season is barbecue season, it’s also true that the vest of all possible barbecue sauces made on Planet Earth is Craig’s BBQ Sauce! There are some good bbq sauces out there, sure, but the best of them still can’t compete with Craig’s BBQ Sauce for perfection.

This is the best barbecue sauce you'll ever taste.

This is the best barbecue sauce you’ll ever taste.

Craig’s BBQ Sauce has a sweet southern barbecue taste that will tickle your taste buds and make your whole body laugh out loud with delight! Just a little bit of a kick, added to the smoothness and sweetness, combines to make Craig’s BBQ Sauce the best of the best!

Craig’s BBQ sauce is excellent with every kind of meat you’ll ever want to throw on your grill, too. Chicken, pork, beef, lamb. . . all meats are better with Craig’s BBQ Sauce brushed on the top. And the sides. And the bottoms, too. Oh, heck, put a cup of Craig’s BBQ Sauce on the table for dippin’ purposes, too. They’ll ask for it so you might as well beat ’em to the punch.

You can choose between a regular bottle of Craig’s BBQ Sauce or our giant gallon bottle. You might as well order the big one to save yourself some time later on down the road. They’ll want more. They’ll ask for more. You’d better have more!

Texas Jello Shots

Craig Sharry | September 19, 2015
No comments

When it comes to mixing Texas Pepper Jelly and Jello, there are all kinds of possibilities. If we’re talking about a gathering that includes children, that’s one thing. If we’re talking about a gathering that’s adults-only, that’s quite another thing.

Let’s talk about both, because there’s really only a slight difference. That difference, however, packs quite a punch!

Use any flavor of Jello and any flavor of Texas Pepper Jelly except Pineapple Habanero. That’s because gelatin and pineapple don’t mix – it’s a science thing.

Open the box of Jello and mix according to the directions on the box. After you add the hot water, add a half cup of pepper jelly. Mix well. If you’re fixing this for a gather that includes children, all you need to do is to pour the mixture into little individual cups and put them in the refrigerator. Your dessert will be ready in a few hours.

However, if your guest list is adults-only, add a cup of vodka or rum. Or maybe a few of one and a few of the other. Pour into tiny cups or shot glasses and put them in the refrigerator.

Jello shots - Texas style!

Jello shots – Texas style!

My husband has a special liking for strawberry habanero jello shots, which use strawberry Jello, Strawberry Habanero pepper jelly, and vodka. I like to match the Jello and pepper jelly flavors, but you don’t have to. Mixing them up is delicious, too.

Please remember that if there are children in your house, you shouldn’t add the alcohol to the spicy jello. If there are no children involved, heads up!

Labor Day’s Coming Up Soon!

Craig Sharry | August 31, 2015

Hey, listen, Labor Day is coming up REALLY SOON! Hamburger is on sale in most grocery stores, and in fact, so are pork chops and ribs. Everybody is getting ready for that awesome Labor Day cookout, including the merchants!

No cookout is complete without plenty of barbecue sauce, and Craig’s BBQ Sauce is the best you can buy.

This is the best barbecue sauce you'll ever taste.

This is the best barbecue sauce you’ll ever taste.

You can buy Craig’s BBQ Sauce by the jar, or you can buy it by the gallon.

Your Labor Day cookout also needs a good supply of Texas Rib Candy, and we make several different flavors of this awesomely delicious grilling sauce. Our Rib Candies make awesome shish kabobs – brush the meats with Rib Candy and string them on the kabob skewers, alternating with vegetables and the fruit that was used to flavor the sauce!

Alternate vegetables, meats, and the fruits that match the Rib Candy!

The point is, Labor Day means, for most people, one of the last big cookouts of the season, and a big cookout needs as many Texas Pepper Jelly products as possible! Your family, friends, and other guests will thank you.

Texas Rib Candy – So Delicious! So Versatile!

Craig Sharry | August 22, 2015
No comments

Hey – Labor Day will be upon us before we know it, and in the meantime, there are still weeks and weeks of outdoor grilling weather before that! (And even more afterwards!)

Last week, we recommended that you buy our very own Craig’s BBQ Sauce by the gallon, and this week, we are recommending that you buy our Texas Rib Candy by the case.

Buy Texas Rib Candy by the case! YOU choose the flavors!

Unlike most companies that sell food by the case, you aren’t limited to OUR preferences when it comes to choosing flavors. No sirree, at Texas Pepper Jelly, YOU choose the flavors.

That’s what I said. When you buy a case of any of our fine products, YOU are the one who gets to choose the flavors.

Select one of each. Select two of one flavor and two of another. Choose one flavor and get the whole case in that one. Your purchase, your choice, all the way.

I highly recommend Texas Pepper Jelly’s delicious Texas Rib Candy. It’s a finishing sauce that can be used in a multitude of ways. Use it as a marinade. Baste with it. Pour it in a bowl and let your hungry diners dip whatever they want into it. Pour it over ice cream or cake or cheesecake or pudding.

I said it was versatile and I meant it. No sauce was ever as versatile as Texas Rib Candy.

BBQ Sauce by the Gallon!

Craig Sharry | August 10, 2015
No comments

When it’s time to buy more BBQ sauce, why bother buying those little bottles from the grocery store? We all know those don’t last very long, especially in the summer when grilling is at its peak!

My advice to all of you is to buy your barbecue sauce by the gallon, and what better place – and what better barbecue sauce – than right here at Texas Pepper Jelly.

Craig’s BBQ Sauce by the gallon!

Buying barbecue sauce by the gallon means you’ll have enough sauce for several cookouts, not just one or two, because everybody knows that a good cookout requires not only BBQ sauce on the cooking meats but also BBQ sauce on the table so people can add more. And people always want to add more.

Craig's BBQ Sauce for every kind of meat you might put on your grill!

Craig’s BBQ Sauce for every kind of meat you might put on your grill!

Chicken, pork, beef, lamb. . . whatever kind of meat you put on your grill, Craig’s BBQ Sauce will enhance it and make it more delicious than it already was.

Are you grilling vegetables, too? Craig’s BBQ Sauce is delicious on veggies, too.

Texas Pepper Jelly offers Craig’s BBQ Sauce in several sizes, so pick the size that is most convenient to you. However, if you do a lot of grilling out, BBQ by the gallon might be your best bet!

Besides, where else can you buy a GALLON of BBQ Sauce?
